ABOUT SCHOOL ::

 WITHYMOOR PRE SCHOOL:

Opened in April 1981, Withymoor Primary School was built to serve the developments around Withymoor and Amblecote Bank.

The building, which is on a fully enclosed site, has been designed to accommodate 420 pupils in fourteen class bases with additional facilities appropriate to the needs of the school.

Full use is made of the grounds to enhance the curriculum of the school and you will see two wildlife areas, a pond and during the course of the year, evidence of the planting programmes for bulbs and shrubs.

Part of the school building has been designated to Community use. Many groups meet in the Community Room and others use the school hall for a variety of activities. Withymoor Community Association administers use of the Community Room.

Withymoor has before and after school provision in the form of a ‘Stay & Play’ club. The club uses the school buildings and is run by a voluntary management committee.

Withymoor pre-school is registered with Dudley L.E.A. to receive nursery education grant and is registered with O.F.S.T.E.D. for 52 children.

We provide two sessions per day 9.00a.m. – 11.30a.m. and 12.45 – 3.15p.m.

We employ three full time members of staff and two part time members of staff all of whom hold relevant qualifications for their positions. We also encourage students from local colleges and regular volunteers giving them opportunities to gain experience in childcare.

At Withymoor pre-school we concentrate on developing children’s early learning skills, we feel the early years of a child’s development are vitally important for a child’s overall development and outlook. We feel the time and effort spent on a child’s behalf at this stage will pay dividends later.

We strive to provide a friendly and supportive environment with clearly defined routines and discipline together with encouragement of self-development, hopefully giving children the opportunities to enjoy learning, appreciate beautiful things and develop appropriate behaviour.

We encourage parent in partnership and endeavour to celebrate all children’s achievements with parents.

We plan our sessions toward the stepping stones as laid out in the Curriculum Guidance for the Foundations Stage and we hope after their time at pre-school our children will develop into independent active learners who carry on through their life with a thirst for learning.

We also work very closely with the Foundation Stage Co-ordinator in school to ensure the transition from our setting to reception is as smooth as possible.
