The
school promotes a high
standard of behaviour
and an atmosphere where
all members of the school
are valued as individuals.
The school believes in
the development of self
esteem, respect for others
and self discipline.
Children
are expected to be polite
and to show respect for
other people and property.
In class children should
join in the lesson to
the best of their ability
by listening carefully,
answering and asking questions
and by taking part fully
in activities. The golden
rule is ‘treat others
as you would like to be
treated yourself’.
At Withymoor
great emphasis is placed
on positive reinforcement
of behaviour through praise.
Children’s confidence
and self esteem are developed
through encouragement,
incentives and rewards,
both verbal and written.
Positive and constructive
comments are written at
the end of children's
work to recognise effort,
improvement and achievement
of targets set. Stickers,
stamps and merit points
are awarded as rewards
for good work, helpfulness,
politeness and effort.
Parents
are informed of achievements
through the awarding of
certificates and every
month a whole school Achievement
Assembly provides public
recognition to many forms
of excellence and achievement.
Withymoor
children are well behaved
and give of their best,
but occasionally when
concerns arise a range
of sanctions which are
based on loss of privileges
will operate. Children
causing persistent concern
will be referred to the
Headteacher or Deputy
and parents may be invited
to discuss the concern.
We ask for your co-operation
in disciplinary matters,
so that school and home
are seen to be acting
together. This provides
the child with a consistent
framework in which to
develop an understanding
of what is appropriate
behaviour.
Parents
and children attending
Withymoor are invited
to sign our Home and School
Partnership Agreement
which identifies core
values and roles for the
school, the parent and
the child to follow.
