| ADDITIONAL
EDUCATIONAL NEEDS :
|
|
| |
|
| Withymoor
Primary School welcomes
and endeavours to help,
both gifted students,
and those who may have
particular learning needs,
at any time during their
primary schooling. This
includes students who
have Statements of Additional
Educational Needs. The
school ensures that such
students receive the support
specified on their statement.
Additional
Educational Needs are
met by a variety of approaches.
All students are taught
in class lessons, where
they are encouraged to
reach their full potential.
Support for children with
learning difficulties
is provided in several
ways: |
|
| |
|
| •
|
The designing of individual
and group education
plans with resources
that cater for student’s
needs. |
| •
|
The designing
of programmes of study
for each subject which
cater for the individual
needs of students. |
| •
|
Through
small Literacy and
Numeracy groups with
extra support from
Classroom Assistants. |
| •
|
Through
withdrawal (for limited
periods of time) for
practice in specific
areas of need. |
| •
|
Through
Additional Literacy
Support programmes
for identified pupils
in Years 3, 4 and

| •
|
Through
Early Literacy Support
programmes for identified
pupils in Year 1. |
|
|
| |
|
The
school takes full account
of the Government’s
Educational Needs Code
of Practice (January 2002)
working in partnership
with parents at all times.
The school’s Additional
Education Needs Co-ordinator
supervises the assessment
and monitoring of pupil’s
needs, the support given
from teachers and the
work of the LEA’s
pupil support teams. |

|
| PUPILS
WITH DISABILITIES :
|
|
| |
|
The
school endeavours to ensure
that pupils with disabilities
receive appropriate support
and access to the school
curriculum and are enabled
to play an active part
in the life of the school.
Access to the ground floor
of the building is enabled
via ramps and toilet facilities
are available. Access
to the upstairs is currently
restricted by stairs.
Individual support for
pupils is provided through
classroom assistants and
nursery nurses and by
specialist support staff
for pupils with sensory
impairment and learning
disabilities. Additional
services (such as physiotherapy,
occupational therapy,
speech and language therapy,
etc.) may also be arranged
through the local health
